" Still Life " Paint Party Friday Week 27th
The hearth's terracotta tiles bask in the glow of the crackling fire....cold brisk nights have arrived.
Pussycat and dog curled up beside me as I read my new book, couldn't ask for more for this is probably one of their favourite times to enjoy with the coming of Fall.
Silence is golden , literally, for the glow of the setting sun hits the living-room windows and casts it's warmth and shadows on the newly painted white walls of the room. Suddenly the silence breaks, an owl's hooting is over heard the popping hot ambers of the fire.
With Fall and Halloween fast approaching I was inspired to do this wood-burning / painting of an owl sitting on a branch of a very, very old tree, half living half fallen , looking out into the slowly disappearing warm setting sun.
The burl wood piece I bought at a thrift store which had been painted on previously of which I sanded off the image.
After examining the wood I decided it looked so much like a tree from the back side and that it would accommodate perfectly the limbs and roots of a tree. Not only that, but it also reminded me of how a tree in nature, sometimes in it's splendid remnants of decaying grandeur tells a story of a storm, disease or simply old age embracing it's life.
Even though a part of this tree's life has departed a living part remains and flourishes.....Life is eternal?
Visit the artists partaking in Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin and Please do remember to come back for my giveaway blog party this coming October. I will be giving away a software program worth $80 along with a little something I created.
Here is a little Owl video from youtube I discovered.....Beautiful....Adore Owls!

This Mark Ryden portrait is so hauntingly beautiful, although it didn't need anything else to enhance its beauty I thought it might be nice framed.

*** Magic in the Woods ***
"For in an instance I did think I’d seen a zillion stars ablaze" When I had discovered the magical grove of fossilized crystals I thought I had seen stars. This is what it looked like only on the ground amongst the moss. Thanks to Zsaj for helping me interpret the scene I had discovered a few summers past.
~ Peter Rabbit ~
Needed a break from woodburning and painting so I tried this lovely little toy{ Polyvore Digital Workshop } and created this collage. This is a great way for creating a virtual one before attempting a real mixed media collage, although this is art in itself. Thanks Cindy from "My Romantic Home "http://www.romantichome.blogspot.com/, for introducing this great little gadget. I think I'm hooked!
~ Dreams ~
Oh my life.... is changing everyday
in every possible way
And though my dreams
it's never quite as it seems
Never quite as it seems
I know I felt like this before
But now I'm feeling it even more
Because it came from you
Then I open up and see
The person fumbling here is me
A different way to be
I want more, impossible to ignore
Impossible to ignore
And they'll come true
impossible not to do
Impossible not to do
And now I tell you openly
You have my heart so don't hurt me
For what I couldn't find
Talk to me amazing mind
So understanding and so kind
You're everything to me
Oh my life is changing everyday
In every possible way
And though my dreams
it's never quite as it seems
'cause you're a dream to me
Dream to me
The Cranberries
in every possible way
And though my dreams
it's never quite as it seems
Never quite as it seems
I know I felt like this before
But now I'm feeling it even more
Because it came from you
Then I open up and see
The person fumbling here is me
A different way to be
I want more, impossible to ignore
Impossible to ignore
And they'll come true
impossible not to do
Impossible not to do
And now I tell you openly
You have my heart so don't hurt me
For what I couldn't find
Talk to me amazing mind

You're everything to me
Oh my life is changing everyday

* ~ Twilight at Sea ~
Another collage I created inspired by the poem "Twilight at Sea" I used dragonflies instead of birds...I luv them both but I adore how their gossamer wings catch the light.
~Annabelle
Twilight at Sea
The Twilight Hours like birds flew by,
As lightly and as free;
Ten thousand stars were in the sky,
Ten Thousand on the sea;
For every wave with dimpled face,
That leaped upon the air,
Had caught a star in its embrace,
And held it trembling there.

* ~ Until We Meet Again ~
This collage is part of a poem I am presently writing for a very good friend who just recently lost his spouse.

* ~ Pisces ~
MY sign beautifully rendered by Josephine Wall ~ Artist of Enchantment ~~~~~~~ Today's Post Scroll down a bit
~ Pisces ~
February 19—March 20 Neptune, God of the Sea and master of illusion and mystery, rules Pisces. Those born under this sign have an affinity for the performing arts, music, writing…anything that allows them to dream and create a more beautiful world. This same tendency toward illusion can also be expressed in self-delusion, as Pisces would rather ignore anything that isn’t in keeping with their lovely vision of the world. Pisceans possess a high level of emotional intelligence, easily perceiving the feelings of those around them, which makes them wonderful teachers and guides of the soul.

~ Cancer ~
June 22—July 22 Cancer rules the Fourth House of the Zodiac, known as the “House of Family and Home.” This house represents the effects of our earliest experiences and of the nurturing we receive as children, and the way this anchors and guides our lives. Anyone lucky enough to be within a Cancerian’s inner circle enjoys a secure sense of comfort and belonging. Cancer is a water sign associated with the moon, a combination that leads to shifting moods and deeply felt emotions. Though they may sometimes appear impervious on the outside, perhaps even irritable, inside they’re all heart, kind and loving to the core.

~ Scorpio ~
October 24—November 22 At the heart of the constellation Scorpius, the red giant star Antares burns with a fiery intensity matched by astrological Scorpio’s passionate temperament. Ruled by Pluto, Greek God of the Netherworld, Scorpio is intimately connected with the extremes of life, with beginnings and endings, conception and lasting legacies. As the sign of purpose and success, the dedication and drive of Scorpio is unmatched. Of course, if a Scorpio’s anger is aroused, or she feels out of control and disordered, the sting of rebuke will be unmistakable! Scorpios thrive in pursuits that require intuition and deeper understanding, including medicine, spirituality, and philosophy.

~ Virgo ~
August 23—September 22 The phrase “you reap what you sow” sums up the Virgo way of thinking, as well as the sign’s history. In ancient times, agriculture was symbolized by the virgin, whose purity and singleness of purpose bore fruit for the individual as well as the common good. Virgo is marked by continual improvement, action, and practicality; people of this sign are famously conscientious in all aspects of their lives. Ruled by Mercury, planet of communication, Virgos can organize their own and others’ thoughts and ideas and express them intelligently and concisely. They are unswerving in their care for anyone who is truly in need; you can always depend on kind and responsible Virgo.
