I Love the Rain

I love the rain
It sets me free
In the contentment of my home
I watch out the window panes
At the vibrant hues of greens

Beside the hearth next to my cats, dog and little girl
We snuggle up beneath the fleecy blankets and begin to read
I with a cup of coffee and a side glass of Grand Marnier
They with their milk and happy feast of May
Enjoy the solitude, the peace and silence the rain does bring

Yes I’m aware of the darkness and the loneliness it seeks
But that is why it makes it tranquil so
Its music gently singing in the outdoor breeze
Is only but a pittering and pattering on the glassy window screens

And in the stillness of the night
When all is done
And everyone to sleep have quietly gone
I close my book in my slumber bed and fall into a dream
To the rain song that’s playing on my roof of coppery seams

Now only my dreams and I are in thy feathery bed
Lost in a world of our own
While the rain’s liquid pearls from heaven above
Are dancing in infinite swirls
Then drop and spatter on top of the quiescent home

If I close my eyes I can imagine I'm snuggled up in my cosy bed, listening to the rain on the roof. Lovely words as usual Annabelle.
I must go to bed soon, and since it's raining, I will probably be snuggled up and listening to it..!
Sweet dreams my friend.
I hope you are feeling better..?

Wonderful words again Annabelle. I love your writing. You can really capture a moment.
And grand marnier? One of my favorites when it is cold and raining...in a huge heated snifter glass.
let it rain

I love this! it describes the very way that I feel about the rain. we have a tin roof and at night when it rains, I am lulled off to sleep with the rain on the roof. what I call perfect! thankyou Annabelle, this is wonderful xo

Twilight at Sea

The Twilight Hours like birds flew by,
As lightly and as free;
Ten thousand stars were in the sky,
Ten Thousand on the sea;
For every wave with dimpled face,
That leaped upon the air,
Had caught a star in its embrace,
And held it trembling there.
