Splendor in The Grass

There was a time
when I was lost
But then I found
what it was all about
In a golden yellow field
and felt the splendor in the grass

I must confess
I’m not the one
You thought I was

Not in spoken word
In pen and paper, maybe
In spirit and in psyche of course

But in the human form
Completely far
From the essence of this;
You think
of a beautiful mind

Yes you might think
Of the beauty that lies inside
But there
is where it ends

You see
I always felt unease
By the way I looked outside
I always thought too much
Of how all the life there was
That never stood
Closely by my side

Alone and drained I searched
For a reason
To prolong my very being
And all the while
This very purpose
Was within
This very mind

And when I sat in pensive thought
Surrounded by a golden yellow field
A gentle velvet gust of wind
Caressed my very being
Suddenly my heart suppressed
Felt the splendor in the grass

I did not need
The love and touch
Of anyone
For I had thought wrong
My heart and earth
Were one entwined

Now I thought, the life outside me yearned
was not what counted most?
No; it was my earth and soul

And if I have touched someone
With this beauty found inside
Then I would say my purpose
Was twofold
and had found its rightful place
In this heart entwined by earth

Annabelle
I loved this because I have felt like this before.
A few years ago I used to run every Sunday morning at 6am...10km...and during that time I felt at one with the Earth. Completely.
I hope everyone who walks the planet gets to experience this feeling you have described.
Well done.

Twilight at Sea

The Twilight Hours like birds flew by,
As lightly and as free;
Ten thousand stars were in the sky,
Ten Thousand on the sea;
For every wave with dimpled face,
That leaped upon the air,
Had caught a star in its embrace,
And held it trembling there.
