To Sleep into a Dream

To sleep into a dream
Of thirty years less of me
Once more in the realm of my youth
Of body strong and firm

No more sorrows, no more pain
Only love and laughter take their place
Now among the ones I loved and treasured
Content in being me

A mind intense, a soul complete
Space so immense
Creation flows from within
The creature that is me

To sleep into a dream
Of long-ago days I’d seen
Of happy times and sad
And yet so longing for it back

If only I could have it all
If only I could play it over again
I do some things the same
And change what didn’t fit

Light breaks the night
Clear and bright my conscience wakes
Is this what life is all about?
How can it be so short?

The years creep silently on my mirror pane
Every inch of my face a flaw displays
Time has no place to rest
It only travels lonely and fades into space

Escape from reality I must
The dream has broken
I relinquish to the arbor of my car
And travel to my happy place

Music flows, blaring loud…. “Flawed Design”
Do I have trouble not knowing?
What I want or what I need….
To make me happy, to make me sane?

Guitar strings sing
A melody in solo
Harmony of one
And I contemplate my life

Down the vacant road
Morning’s light shines thru the trees
Broken rays dance on the wind
And touch the glass upon the car

Oh I feel so free!
Can this be just what I need?
Escape my space
Find the answer to my soul’s release

Twilight at Sea

The Twilight Hours like birds flew by,
As lightly and as free;
Ten thousand stars were in the sky,
Ten Thousand on the sea;
For every wave with dimpled face,
That leaped upon the air,
Had caught a star in its embrace,
And held it trembling there.
