It all began when Karla and Beth had the bird house bling . I discovered Terisa and Dave Huddleston's site and fell head over heels on Dave's birdhouse and little snail. When I saw that they too were having a contest I quickly recruited my daughter Em to pick a name for the little fellow. And so the Huddlestons thought Freddie suited Slimeball quite good and Em was declared the winner.
National Treasure
A mythical, dream treasure was beginning to take shape in our minds when it seemed forever that the parcel Terisa and Dave Huddleston of “Running with Scissors” had sent Em still had not arrived from Sunny California and in all probability the post office had lost it for good! In the past we have had several things go missing not to mention last Friday my husband’s luggage got lost in Saint John’s New Brunswick, so this was not to be undermined that it could very well have the same fate.
The contest that Terisa and Dave ran for naming their beloved snail “Freddie Mercer” was so much fun and when we discovered to our surprise that Em’s name was picked for the snail we were thrilled and excited. Since then Em would eagerly check the post office every night after school. Then Terisa sent us an email to give us the sad news that somehow the parcel had gotten lost. Just yesterday we had gone to the post office to find in our mail box an UPS card saying that it had arrived in Winnipeg, Manitoba April 17th and that we had to pick it up by April 24th or it would be delivered back to the sender Terisa and Dave by the 24th. All hope was lost of ever seeing the prize they had kindly sent Em.
I’m sure poor Terisa and Dave had their fill of tracking their elusive parcel.
But then today was different, while Em was at school Grace met up with a brown uniformed guy at the door and when I looked outside there it was the brown truck! Wow, just when I thought it was all said and done it appeared at the door. Anxiously I looked at the tube and told the guy; “hey, my daughter has been looking forward to this for some time now and I would love to see inside it but I’ll let her open her much anticipated gift when she gets home.
Off I went to town for some art supplies only to come back home to a son who by now was tired of wondering what in heavens name his sister had won and anxiously called out to her in the yard to get inside, stop cutting the grass and open the parcel and unveil the mystery to us all. It seems the reason behind the overwhelming interest in the package finally came to revelation when Em said; eh, mom, what does this look like to you? I looked and knew it had something special about it, after all it had come from a long ways from Sunny California , to Winnipeg and finally now in Ottawa but I just didn’t know what…..
National Treasure….remember ….the tube???? Ah, that’s right like National Treasure alright! Lost and found!
Well, there next to the sofa was Stan’s luggage which had been finally tracked down and delivered the same day. It had been to Saint John’s New Brunswick, Cancun and finally back home. And the National Treasure, well yes, a real treasure to be hold! Dave’s artistry and Terisa’s unique touch brought an Ooh and Ah from all. Funny that I was just on their Etsy site the other night and favorite the dragon’s picture and what do you think was part of the package but three of the most beautiful whimsical fantasy art ever and of course the dragon was one of them.
Em’s eyes lit up, a sweet trio of mementos to mark her first contest she took part in blog land naming an adorable sweet little snail critter she will always remember by the name of Freddie Mercer!
P.S. I will post pictures tomorrow of the three prints Em received,"Sweet Dreams", "Go Fish" and "Moonlight Celebration" as well as some lovely ribbon which at the moment Em is using in her sewing creation.
One more thing… Just wondering when the next contest is????
Thanks guys for all the fun!

WE WERE SOLDIERS
Twilight at Sea
The Twilight Hours like birds flew by,
As lightly and as free;
Ten thousand stars were in the sky,
Ten Thousand on the sea;
For every wave with dimpled face,
That leaped upon the air,
Had caught a star in its embrace,
And held it trembling there.

National Treasure or Around The World In 80 Days! When UPS called a month after we had mailed it and said it was in Kansas....I was sure it had already traveled over the rainbow! So glad it finally arrived!
Thank you for the beautiful post...
Blessings,
Terisa
