*** The Little Lamp ***

"But soft!
What light through yonder window breaks?
It is the east,and Juliet is the sun."

Well, not quite but the light this little lamp casts is so romantic and yes I thought of Shakespeare's quote as an appropriate introduction to my new little friend.

There’s a bit of an old vintage touch here since I used old Chantilly lace belonging to my wedding dress and an old rhinestone brooch to cling the roses to the shade.

I think it looks quite Victorian, don’t you?

Once these lovelies were completed it wasn’t hard to think of where they would look their most dreamy and I think baby bugs thought the same.

If you like to make a similar lampshade and would like to know how to make the ribbon roses visit Monica at ***The White Bench***( see link below) for her roses tutorial; she was the inspiration for creating this Victorian shade.

Thank you Vicki,
I had to change the moon's lips; she isn't the complete image for I have her on a landscape scene which I'm still working on.

Penny,
Glad you like the little lamp and yes that tutorial of Monica's is quite easy to follow; hope you have fun with it. I’ll drop by sometime soon and see what you do.

Monica,
once again thank you for the tutorial, I had a bit of trouble finding the satin ribbon you used and when I did find it at Michaels it was $13 for a roll and so decided to get a small one somewhere else for $4 a roll and actually it worked out because it made me look for an alternate place to use the finished roses. Oh, about being brave cutting up the wedding dress,I almost gave it away four years ago but realized someday I could use the fabric so I kept it.

Twilight at Sea

The Twilight Hours like birds flew by,
As lightly and as free;
Ten thousand stars were in the sky,
Ten Thousand on the sea;
For every wave with dimpled face,
That leaped upon the air,
Had caught a star in its embrace,
And held it trembling there.
