A Record Breaking Snow Storm and Baking Home Made Bread

A Golden Crusty Bread

Well, there is always a first time for everything and this is my first time at baking bread aside from one baked in a bread machine, but that doesn't count : ) On Tuesday we got our share of a Winter's Storm, a record 51.2 cm of snow and although I still had to venture out a couple of times during the day on the treacherous roads, I wasn't going to go further than I had to, even to buy my crusty loaf of bread for supper.

I suppose it was the desire and craving for bread that somehow I fell onto some bread recipes while playing on Pinterest and I am so glad I did!
This Crusty Bread recipe originates from Hell's Kitchen in New York City. Jim Lahey, owner of Sullivan Street Bakery 533 West 47th Street in Manhatten has a simple bread making technique that results in a beautiful little golden loaf of crusty bread. The recipe and method are so simple, there wasn't much to think about except to gather the four ingredients into a bowl, bring out the special pot and wait.

I baked the bread in a 450 oven for the required time and I also added a homemade mixture of Herbes De Provence (McCormick ) & Sea Salt to the outside of the loaf before baking.

A simple Bread Recipe that anyone can bake and have amazing results. Jim 's recipe is a keeper and everyone should have it!

Here are some of the other sites that have the recipe:

 Enjoy the little work : ) and have patience! Now back to art  : )

Twilight at Sea

The Twilight Hours like birds flew by,
As lightly and as free;
Ten thousand stars were in the sky,
Ten Thousand on the sea;
For every wave with dimpled face,
That leaped upon the air,
Had caught a star in its embrace,
And held it trembling there.
