*** Music of the Night ***

Although I started off to write this poem with every intention to being a happy one it took a turn of its own and simply came out to speak of life and death. But it is only the beginning of an idea and I’m sure some day more will come of it on a happier note.
While I was quite inspired by the beauty of the frosted spider’s web Bev took I was also touched by what we have and lose in life. I never thought of writing a poem from the perspective of a ghosts or spirit. So here it is.

Picture by Bev Wigney (C) of Burning Silo Definitely have a visit to Bev's website for it promises to showcase all of the beauteous wonders of our natural world she captures on film. Just click the picture of the Spider's Web and it will take you there. Enjoy.

*** Music of the Night ***

Listen, to the music of the night!
What joy it brings,
From somewhere, in the distant sight,
An echo of fond embrace, it carries on starry strings,
A beautiful song it sings.

And to the music, dance the twiggy limbs of trees,
While a spider looms black enchantment of his polished entangle,
Within the tree’s benighted leafy eaves,
Preparing for its unwary guest, secretly to strangle
Without an uttered sigh, he waits and dangles.

And all the while beneath his watch, beneath moon-beams,
A lonely heart broods mutely in treasured thought,
Basked in the afterglow of summer dreams,
Encircled by the light of impassioned fireflies, once caught,
It lingers in the twilight, conceiving of all that is now lost, that once had fiercely sought

And to the spider’s delicious delight,
At long last, his guest has arrived,
Within the finery of his home’s sweet lite,
This ballroom he so ingeniously contrived,
Will undeniably see his innocent one , will have not, the night survived.

Lonely is the heart that wonders,
Of the hour that was day
Of the hour that is night, of the hours torn asunder
Of a life that has gone by and now is gray
Of a life that now has all decayed.

*** ending thought ***

Oh but, sweet hour of the dawning,
Now gone is the hour of the night,
Now heart, look upon thy mourning, yawning
To the birdsong on the wind of light
Rising high above the trees, on a web of crystal white

Rough draft...

~Where Have You Gone To My Lovely~

Enduring love, originally uploaded by IrenaS.

Where have you gone to my lovely
So far and away from the world?
Is it not so
Your beauty and youth
Were just beginning to gently unfurl

The trees that surround you
Tell the story so well
Shed of their leaves from sorrow so vast
Stand naked and dark against a fading sky of golden glass

Space… oh so still and serene
A park of unbroken love and broken dreams
Affirmed by the monuments that
Stand silent and so strikingly seen

I quietly walk past the stones
That rise from the depths of the earth
And look for the one that
Lies on the bed made of marble and stone
With a heart in the folds of her dress

I stand here above you
In this forest that travels to no infinity's end
And place my cold kiss upon your head

Always have loved you
From the dawn of your birth
To the dusk of your death
Now even more
In this everlasting still life that’s been tenderly cast

~Annabelle~

I wrote this poem some time ago and only recently thought of it when by chance I passed by an old cemetery today and it reminded of the poem.I have been meaning to take some photos of my own of graveyards and crosses along highway roads and maybe write another poem or two. I find these places are very tranquil and beautiful...so much to tell if you sit quietly and listen. I thought of submitting this poem to a poetry contest but never did.Wouldn't mind some feed back. I do have to take some time in the very near future and compile all the poetry I have written on this blog, edit and see if it is good enough to get on print.

The Raven

“And The Raven, Never Flitting, Still is Sitting, Still is Sitting”

Long enough for me to take his portrait

“And His Eye Has all The Seeming of A Demon's that is Dreaming”

Very fitting to Edgar Allen Poe’s “ The Raven” don’t you think?

"What shall I sing to my lord from the window?
What shall I sing, for my lord will not stay?
What shall I sing, for my lord will not listen?
Where shall I go, for my lord is away?

Whom shall I love when the moon is arisen?
Gone is my lord, and the grave is his prison.

What shall I say when my lord comes a -calling?
What shall I say when he knocks on my door?

What shall I say when his feet enter softly,
Leaving the marks of his grave on my floor?

Enter my lord, come from your prison.
Come from your grave, for the moon is arisen." {Master Miles}

Twilight at Sea

The Twilight Hours like birds flew by,
As lightly and as free;
Ten thousand stars were in the sky,
Ten Thousand on the sea;
For every wave with dimpled face,
That leaped upon the air,
Had caught a star in its embrace,
And held it trembling there.
