With Jewels in Her Hair
With Jewels in her hair
She looked to the heavens and stared
Light faded to dark
These watery pearls her hair they adorned
She knew would return by the sound of the lark
So many more
Would gather and pair
Then she’d wait for the sun and the warmth
To gently brush in the radiant light, that was reborn
In glorious brilliance these liquid beads sat under the heavens,
No more in the dark

~ Turn of the Screw ~
WE WERE SOLDIERS
Twilight at Sea
The Twilight Hours like birds flew by,
As lightly and as free;
Ten thousand stars were in the sky,
Ten Thousand on the sea;
For every wave with dimpled face,
That leaped upon the air,
Had caught a star in its embrace,
And held it trembling there.
