In a brilliant piece of marketing, Tourism Queensland in Australia is offering "The Best Job in the World." Your duties, according to the job posting for Island Caretaker Great Barrier Reef, include living in a swank three bedroom house on luxurious Hamilton Island, spending your days diving, sailing, and bushwacking ... then blog about it once in a while.

That's all you do. You get paid to be a tourist. Start making your video. It's worth a shot.

5. Potential drawback: The Irukandji jellyfish. It is only 2.5 cm long and the sting won't hurt very much. It will, however, probably kill you. I think the last person to die by Irukandji jellyfish was in 2002, so maybe they've mellowed a bit.

4. Potential upside: Updating your Facebook status will be the cause of great excitement to your friends, as you'll actually have interesting stuff to clog newsfeeds instead of "so and so is baking muffins" or "so and so is excited for UFC 213".

While I think I would have a decent chance at the gig, I like my job, so won't be applying. There's no reason a Winnipegger can't win this, though. I'll make sure you get paid to show up at a club when you return.
