The Window in The Attic - Art and A Little Ghost Story

I found a place to hide from the world — a room with a view of the golf course in front of my home. I pretend we don't live in a sleepy community but in the countryside, alone with nature.
The rain had woken me from a dreamless sleep; the cool air in the room that had come in from outside suggested autumn soon would come. The old lace curtains fluttered and lifted gently in the breeze, casting strange shadows on the wall. Alone- inside the attic room, I watched the rain pitter-patter on the window panes. The door creaked open, Bat; my black cat peaked around, jumped up to the window sill and calmly sat. He looked at the green landscape but was fascinated by a white light that danced in front. The room was quiet, save for the soft rustling of the curtains and the distant chirping of birds carrying on the wind. The rain had stopped. All was calm and then.
I thought I might have seen a lace-wearing candlelit cat spook.
The candle's flame flickered wildly and then, with a soft puff, went out.

I couldn't sleep but I remembered my dream... Salem returned.

Here is a spooky cute poem by
Ian Serraillier,

"Ian Serraillier was an English novelist and poet. He retold legends from England, Greece and Rome and was best known for his children's books, especially The Silver Sword, a wartime adventure story that the BBC adapted for television in 1957 and again in 1971." ~ Wikipedia

‘The Visitor’, by Ian Serraillier

A crumbling churchyard, the sea, and the moon; The waves had gouged out grave and bone;

A man was walking, late and alone...

He saw a skeleton on the ground; A ring on a bony finger he found.

He ran home to his wife and gave her the ring. “Oh, where did you get it?” He said not a thing.

“It’s the loveliest ring in the world,” she said,

As it glowed on her finger. They slipped off to bed.

At midnight they woke. In the dark outside, “Give me my ring!” a chill voice cried.

“What was that, William? What did it say?” “Don’t’ worry, my dear. It’ll soon go away.”

“I’m coming!” A skeleton opened the door. “Give me my ring!” It was crossing the floor.

“What was that, William? What did it say?” “Don’t’ worry, my dear. It’ll soon go away.”

“I’m reaching you now! I’m climbing the bed.” The wife pulled the sheet right over her head.

It was torn from her grasp and tossed in the air: “I’ll drag you out of bed by the hair!”

“What was that, William? What did it say?”

“Throw the ring through the window! THROW IT AWAY!”

She threw it. The skeleton leapt from the sill, Scooped up the ring and clattered downhill, Fainter... and fainter... Then all was still.

★★★★Salem was one of our rescues, a very special cat who had a sixth sense I'm sure.★★★★

NIGHT GALLERY

NIGHT GALLERY

NIGHT GALLERY on Etsy Original Painting

Rod Serling's Night Gallery, The Art of Darkness. Back in the late 1960s, one of my favorite shows I loved watching was Night Gallery. Rod Serling would start the show by presenting each horror tale in a painting he had in an Art Gallery. Artist Thomas J. Wright was the artist behind all of the spooky artwork. Rod Serling would introduce each story of every episode with one of Wright's eerie paintings. The Cemetery was one of my very favorites. I painted over a painting I did some time ago inspired by Night Gallery's The Cemetery. Adding Florence the Ghost and Bat to The Cemetery just seemed perfectly haunting. This Original Painting, Night Gallery will soon be available on Etsy. Mixed Media ORIGINAL PAINTING "Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one's head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no tomorrow. To forget time, to forgive life, to be at peace.” ― Oscar Wilde, The Canterville Ghost ♥️ Annabelle & M ♥️ © 2023

PORTRAIT OF CAPTAIN GREGG - THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR

Portrait of Captain Gregg - Sea Captain Oil Painting Digital Download Art Hi-Res JPEG - The Ghost and Mrs. Muir Classic Movie Art The other day I discovered this print of Captain Gregg, the ghost from the 1947 movie classic "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir", one of my all time favourite ghost movie with Rex Harrison and Gene Tierney. I thought where I would hang it and my art studio is the perfect place. So I bought the digital portrait of Captain Daniel Gregg from SYLVESTERS CHARTS on Etsy. It's on sale, so a good time to buy it. Now to make a print and find the perfect frame. Constance Metzinger did an amazing job on the portrait of the Ghost Captain. Love
♥️

"INFO: This is a newly painted portrait in oil of Captain Daniel Gregg, the famous sea captain featured in the classic film "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" ( 1947 ). Before the handsome Captain Gregg ( Rex Harrison ) became a ghost and haunted Gull Cottage, he had this portrait of himself painted which Lucy Muir ( Gene Tierney ) had hanging up in her bedroom.

The original painting used in the film was painted over for use in the 1968 television series "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir". This oil painting was painted by Constance Metzinger in 2022 and replicates the one seen in the film. "

EMRICK BAT πŸ–ΌπŸŽ¨

EMRICK BAT

OOO...Emrick Bat sits and watches the spooky night in Old Quebec; his long journey has finally come to an end and the scenery in front of him promises to be everything but boring.

I'm a Pisces and my sign is a pair of fish swimming in opposite directions. And being a Pisces, I always seem to go two ways at once, like my 2 wip paintings : ) I look forward to completing both in the next week. This one with Emrick (the name means immortal ) Bat, is a 6 x 6 canvas and I will be painting it in inks.

GHOSTALES

MY NEW ETSY SHOP BANNER

Little whispers floated in the night air and ..........

I BELIEVE.....

THEY SAID .....

"DON'T DREAM IT BE IT"......

BE THE GHOST IN THE GHOSTALES BANNER ......

And if you love Peter Cushing's quote so much , why not place it on the banner?

AND SO I DID!

AFTER READING A COMMENT LEFT ON MY "ZOMBIE QUEEN" ART PIECE ON FLICKR,
IT MADE ME THINK AND I THOUGHT SHE WOULD MAKE A RATHER PERFECT GHOST, SO I MADE MYSELF A NEW ETSY SHOP BANNER THIS MORNING AND I MUST SAY, I AM QUITE PLEASED WITH THE END RESULTS.

"YOU HAVE TO HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOUR DARLING,

TO BE ALIVE.

EVEN A BIT MAD.

IT HELPS TO BE MAD."

*** It's A Wonderful Life ***

*** Sea-rose's Tier Candelier ***

Through the pain… inspiration is born.....

*** Luminous Cross ***

We create from our hearts and sometimes the process is hard to embark on. Art is a medium of deep spiritual understanding, a medium for renewal of ones soul after our hearts are severed. In troubled pains we reach for faith and understanding. Art has a special gift in lighting the way to recovery and helping us grieve. Art has many canvases; one needs only to find the one that fits their creative room.

Jacqueline is one who has suffered one of the most terrible pains one could imagine... of losing a child killed by a drunk driver.
Jacqueline has climbed on board not swiftly but gradually from her overturned world and through the light of her creations she is now filled with energy and renewal of living a Wonderful Life.

*** Abalone Magic ***

Jacqueline is an amazing artist that has touched me and others with her beautiful luminous works of art created from prismatic crystals and gifts from the sea; totally capturing the essence of how Wondrous our Life is….

In her garden studio with her faithful companions she continues to create and believe in the beauty that surrounds us…. Always! Below I have posted some of her creations, each a work of art incorporated by many hours of work with tremendous detail given to each original piece.

“It’s a wonderful Life…No need to laugh and cry ….it's a wonderful, wonderful life”.

******Take a visit to her shop on Etsy ... Click link below to take you there and experience Jacqueline's wonderful place.******

Here I go out to sea again
the sunshine fills my hair
and dreams hang in the air
Gulls in the sky and in my blue eyes
you know it feels so fair
there's magic everywhere

Look at me standing
here on my own again
up straight in the sunshine

No need to run and hide
it's a wonderful, wonderful life
No need to laugh and cry
it's a wonderful, wonderful life

Sun in your eyes
the heat is in your hair
they seem to hate you
because you're there
and I need a friend
Oh, I need a friend
to make me happy
not stand here on my own

Look at me standing
here on my own again
up straight in the sunshine

No need to run and hide
it's a wonderful, wonderful life
No need to laugh and cry
it's a wonderful, wonderful life

I need a friend
oh, I need friend
to make me happy
not so alone.......
Look at me here
here on my own again
up straight in the sunshine

No need to run and hide
it's a wonderful, wonderful life
No need to laugh and cry
it's a wonderful, wonderful life

No need to run and hide
it's a wonderful, wonderful life
No need to run and hide

Twilight at Sea

The Twilight Hours like birds flew by,
As lightly and as free;
Ten thousand stars were in the sky,
Ten Thousand on the sea;
For every wave with dimpled face,
That leaped upon the air,
Had caught a star in its embrace,
And held it trembling there.
