" MOONSTRUCK " ... THE REVIVAL OF "GHOSTS IN THE MOONLIGHT" WIP OIL ON WOOD MIXED MEDIA

"Anything can happen when you have all the time in the world"

The merriest month of the year, May.

The flowers of the field and of the garden scented the spring air with their sweet perfume. I closed my lap top and put my phone on silent. I spent my Spring to the end of Summer in my garden. I had all the time in the world to do what I wanted.

I watched "Gardener's World" on Britbox, went thrifting and bought a few more vintage gardening books, and visited nurseries I had never seen before. I brought home more plants for the garden and added more to my wish list. I had read somewhere pinning a sprig of rosemary in your hair brightened your memory and in the story "The Time Garden" sniffing a little Thyme might just transport u somewhere back in time. These little silly simply pleasures one might discover in the garden amongst the birds and the bees and the dragonflies never fail to enlight my heart.

 And then, early in September as I was watering the flowers, I noticed Bat, our black cat watching me from the bench at the kitchen table he had climbed to get a better view of what I was up to. He was such a cutie standing on his hind legs with his paws over the back of the bench leaning over with his face smooshed against the window. Someday I thought, I would paint him doing exactly that but at that moment he gave me another idea, one of reviving a painting I had already done.

"Ghosts in the Moonlight" was an oil painting I loved but I always knew eventually the forest would change. The way Bat had stood on the bench made me think why not have him climb right to the top of one of the trees and gaze into the enchanted moon. Make Little Bat moonstruck. So I did.

For the moment I shall simply call it,

" MOONSTRUCK " it may change.

 I still remember Bat on the bench, I think the rosemary has helped, lol.

HAPPY EASTER๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿฃ A GREAT DAY FOR PAINTING A COTTAGE BY THE SEA ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿก

HAPPY EASTER๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿฃ

A great day for painting a Cottage By The Sea ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿก

COTTAGE BY THE SEA WIP -"I CANNOT COME BECAUSE THAT IS MY HOUR TO BE ALONE."

"But if one says: I cannot come because that is my hour to be alone, one is considered rude, egotistical, or strange. What a commentary on our civilization when being alone is considered suspect; when one has to apologize for it, make excuses, hide the fact that one practices it - like a secret vice!"
It seems to be more than an hour of alone time for me these days, always painting, and thankfully my dear husband doesn't mind and is kind enough to do the family's cooking. Thanks, Stan!!!♥️
Hopefully, the landscape I traveled to once upon a time and visited in my dreams comes to fruition. So far, I like what I see. I know I paint weirdly, although it works for me.

SEPTEMBER WOODS

SEPTEMBER WOODS

A glory of gold
And russet and grey,
The tree-tops old
Glow in the day;
And, one by one,
The dry leaves fall,
And the Autumn sun
Smiles on them all.

Where all is still
The rabbits play,
And pheasants fill
Each woodland way;
And, one by one,
The dry leaves fall,
While the Autumn sun
Smiles on them all

TREE OF LIFE ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’š

Discovered this beautiful old maple tree last Sunday during our walk in the woods.

This tree made me think of the tree print we have hanging on our kitchen wall with the verse, ' The Living Life' by Bonnie Mohr.

Living Life ~ Bonnie Mohr

'Life is not a race - but indeed a journey. Be Honest. Work Hard. Be Choosy. Say 'thank you', 'I love you', and "great job' to someone each day. Go to church, take time for prayer. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh. Let your handshake mean more than pen and paper. Love your life and what you've been given, it is not accidental ~ search for your purpose and do it as best you can. Dreaming does matter. It allows you to become that which you aspire to be. Laugh often. Appreciate the little things in life and enjoy them. Some of the best things really are free. Do not worry, less wrinkles are more becoming. Forgive, it frees the soul. Take time for yourself ~ Plan for longevity. Recognize the special people you've been blessed to know. Live for today, enjoy the moment.

The Mossycup Oak Candlestick

I adore trees and one of my very favorites is The Mossycup Oak.

When I found this little tree candlestick at my local thrift store , it immediately reminded me of the Mossycup Oak Tree. Come Fall,  I always collect it's beautiful large acorns, whimsically fringed at the edges of the cup which make lovely fairy hats. One thing I wish I had done when we first bought our house was plant some Oak trees but at the time I thought it took forever for them to grow, I was wrong.

The Mossycup Oaks grow very fast!

Casper, Spooky & The Twins

Casper, Spooky & The Twins ๐Ÿ’ซ A mixed media art work ( N. B. Design of The Twins not Mine , not sure who did )
Stargazing at the night sky by a roaring bonfire ๐Ÿ”ฅ is so, so magical๐Ÿ’ซNow that Fall has arrived the chilly nights beckon us to the midnight garden, sit by the fire and look up at the stars a little more closer spying the constellations ๐ŸŒŒ in the deep dark sky. Not long ago I posted some of the constellations I noticed with the @skyview app, a really fun application that helps you find the constellations a lot quicker๐Ÿ’ซ
The stars never leave you alone and guide you in your journeys✨never finding yourself lost๐ŸŒŸonly I always find myself happily Lost in Space ๐Ÿ˜‰⭐️✨๐Ÿ’ซ๐ŸŒŸ

~ Spooks ~

SPOOKS

Oh, I went down to Framingham
To site on a graveyard wall;
"If there be spooks," I said to myself,
"I shall see them, on and all."

I hugged the knee to still the heart,
My gaze on a tomb 'neath a tree.
Down in the village the clock struck nine
But never a ghost did I see.

A boy passed by and his hair was red,
He paused by a sunken mound.
"How goes it with all the ghosts," said he,
have you heard any walking around?"

Now the taunt was the sign of the boy's disdain
For the study I did pursue.
So I took the hour to teach that lad
Of the things unseen but true.

I talked of howler, banshee, ghoul
The gristly and the lean.
I sat on that graveyard wall and told
of all the things I had never seen.

And suddenly a bat swung by
Two cats began to bawl,
And that red-haired boy walked off in haste
When I needed him most of all.

I lost a slipper as I fled―
I bumped against a post,
But nevertheless I knew I'd won
The secret of raising a ghost.

And the method is this―at least for a miss,
You must sit on a graveyard wall,
And talk of the things you never have seen
And you'll see them, one and all.

Twilight at Sea

The Twilight Hours like birds flew by,
As lightly and as free;
Ten thousand stars were in the sky,
Ten Thousand on the sea;
For every wave with dimpled face,
That leaped upon the air,
Had caught a star in its embrace,
And held it trembling there.
