*** Dreamy Thoughts ***

Sorry for my absence but summer called to me and I have been in the garden creating and dreaming.

This is but one of a number of inspirations I have gathered from the garden and my dreams. I hope to continue to develop what I imagine and build it into a reality and share with you the fruit of my mind's imagination. So from now and then, probably more then, I will be posting some interesting conceptions that you may like.

At the moment, I ‘m afraid that I have been caught in Summer’s Dream ...

live on the smells Of fruit;
and Joy,
with
pinions
light, roves
round the gardens,
or sits
singing in the trees."

*** Lost in Dreams ***

I feel like Lucy in the sky with diamonds…drugs sure help to cope with the pain and make you Dream!
I started this late last night when I couldn’t sleep from the pain and was reading Victorian Trading Co. Catalogue

http://www.victoriantradingco.com/ (click tile "Lost in Dreams " to take you to Victorian Trading Company)

when I came across a beautiful Art Nouveau lidded dish bedside box...I was inspired! Wish I could afford it especially when it is in a style I complelety adore and the sleeeping girl is amist a field of forget-me- nots...in dreamy blues and greens....just so lovely!!!
Just finished it this morning and now I think I will make a matching one for a blog and will post them up on Etsy as soon as I am done. What do you think……Dreamy?

What I can afford are these lovely sweet Velveteen Birds....These I definately will buy.

Self Portrait of The Romantic Artist

Annabel Lee

Once upon a Time …

…there lived a little girl by the sea who longed to live in a far away land of pastures, forests and sea.
As she grew up her dream never ceased but intensified to an ultimate most for not a day passed that her mind did not think of the secret place hidden from all!
She dreamed of finding a beautiful very old home made of stone with a roof made out of grass and windows that sparkled like diamonds by the light of the candlelight or of the sun ….in their fractured beauty and timeless fashion; they would set the stage for a magical place for her to reflect in the moment.
There in a mossy glen concealed from the eye of the lively crowds, she nestles inside on cold evening nights and reads all of her favorite poetry and learns of the artists she so much enjoys being inspired by in creating her art. By the roaring hearth sunk in a chair three times larger than her with two furry companions, one on her lap and the other by the side of her chair she can’t think of a better place to be on this earth.
From her top bedroom window she rises each morn to the soft song of the wrens and the cooing of morning doves and looks out to the bay of the romantic surfing shore and dreams of a captain or pirate arriving ,whatever her mood ,she so does , for the day, after all is her very own dream. Days spent by the shore collecting seashells, tiny small stars and opaque sea foam glass and maybe a treasure or two lost to someone out there, who knows for each day would bring adventure , intrigue and a breath of supreme happy intuition.. Oh what pleasures this sort of world would be…if only

About a little less then a year ago I discovered a nurturing and inspiring artist group through a gal named SuziBlu. I have wanted to be an artist forever but can’t draw too well and of course I am an incurable romantic at heart. Through Suzi’s class I discovered once again my love for art and that I could actually do a bit of drawing.

Reaching mid life means doing something extravagant and I think mine is art for I am totally drawn to it presently and collect complete pleasure and fulfillment from it. I don’t have the tools or the special creative studio space some enjoy but I am getting there slowly.

I now have an addiction to digital graphics as well as my altered art, photography and stain glass, just to name a few of my art explorations. Art is very therapeutic and great for anyone who so is inclined to try their hand at it. I promise you’ll find some happiness in it for sure.

The little story above is of me of course and it tells of all of the luvs and dreams I have. From Fairytales, poetry, England and the sea to old lace, old stone homes and hearths , big comfy chairs, old books and old tales, spiders and webs….of more than one kind…hehe , captains , ghosts , pirates , treasures, gardens and secrets and an obsession with an old movie entitled “The Collector”…probably the root to my adoring England so much!

This drawing of a girl was my first attempt and although I never finished “Doria”… her hair is not complete nor her face, basically Doria! I gave her another chance and integrated her into my digital collage. In a way the design characterizes the elements of what I stand for and luv…tattered, old, used, unfinished, beauty found in the rough and imperfect world. OOh and the name Annabelle....husband gave it to me when I was 19 years old , he knew I luved Annabel Lee { the poem} and Poe and the sea and my birth name is Anna so he nicknamed me Annabelle.

In the end the vision of the artist you gather is that of one old gal who has an unending passion for the country, the sea, solitude, England and of the long gone past. A gal who finds beauty in the most of unlikely places.
Now you know a little bit more about me……

*** The Romantic *** Blog Background

Well, this is my first blog background I created for one of my blogs "The Romantic" {http://theromanticartist.blogspot.com/} funny thing is I am having a problem uploading it. I believe it's all to do with my image addy....will see....calling the kids to my rescue...ha!
Tried to create something along the lines of "National Treasure" the movie and a fellow Flickr artist seriykotik but far from capturing the effect....still so much to learn; but I must say I am totally immersed in this medium of art.....so satisfying! Any critique is very much appreciated....always room for improvement. HAVE A LOVELY WEEKEND!!!!

Hi Vicki.....Finally figured it out....where there is a will there is always a way!

I posted a larger version on my new blog for testing new banners so if you come here before reading your email please go to http://theromanticartist.blogspot.com/.

So glad I was able to get you one ...little ones could be possible if you like but I think there is a lot going on at the moment so maybe something would have to be removed to make room.....just a thought. So this is it....what do you think?

P.S. ~~~~~ *Look* ~~~~ can you find the surprise???
Will work on your avatar tomorrow and will talk to you very soon.

*** True Love ***

For you and I have a guardian angel
On high, with nothing to do
But to give to you and to give to me
Love forever true

A little inspiration from the song “True Love” by Cole Porter and sung by Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly. I first heard the song in the movie “High Society” starring Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong.
Grace Kelly received her first and only gold record with this song and Bing Crosby his 21st.

Love and passion of roses, love for cherubs and twinkling stars, love of the secret garden of my dreams…love of all God’s creations we find pleasure in...Enjoy the song

Suntanned, windblown
Honeymooners at last alone
Feeling far above par
Oh, how lucky we are

While I give to you and you give to me
True love, true love
So on and on it will always be
True love, true love

For you and I have a guardian angel
On high, with nothing to do
But to give to you and to give to me
Love forever true

For you and I have a guardian angel
On high, with nothin' to do
But to give to you and to give to me
Love forever true
Love forever true

For you and I have a guardian angel
On high, with nothing to do
But to give to you and to give to me
Love forever true

*** Wild is the Wind ***

Here is my latest digital work for a blog banner. Kind of reminds me of a Bank Cheque...maybe $40,000,000 dollars worth....I wish!ha! Had fun creating this.

After a Desktop Publishing course, buying DreamWeaver, using an online free Photoshop trial and Polyvore I think I may just be getting it...yippe!
Just goes to show where there is a will there is a way.

I always wanted to create digital graphic work but after a bad teacher experience the scar remained with me for years until eventually it receded in the last year and thanks goes to my two wonderful kids who lately have taken a bit of their time to show their mom a few tricks they learned from their high school computer teacher. Really a good teacher is a must for one to excel and this fellow is great and I thank him for teaching my kids well and making the learning process fun. And I in turn also benefit.

WE WERE SOLDIERS

Twilight at Sea

The Twilight Hours like birds flew by,
As lightly and as free;
Ten thousand stars were in the sky,
Ten Thousand on the sea;
For every wave with dimpled face,
That leaped upon the air,
Had caught a star in its embrace,
And held it trembling there.
